What is Preposition?

যে word কোন noun বা pronoun এর পূর্বে বসে Sentence এর অন্যান্য  word এর সাথে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে তাকে preposition বলে।

Preposition কোথায় বসে

!) Noun এর পূর্বে।
!!) Pronoun এর পূর্বে।
!!!) Objective pronoun এর পূর্বে।
!!!!) Present Participle এর পূর্বে । 

Part 1. Preposition এর প্রাথমিক ব্যবহার।

1. In/At

in + বড় স্থান/ বেশি সময়

at + ছোট স্থান / অল্প সময়

example: মিরপুর ঢাকার অন্তর্গত একটি ছোট স্থান।
এখানে মিরপুরের পূর্বে at এবং ঢাকার পূর্বে in বসবে।
★ Rakib lived in Dhaka at Mirpur.

 Note: সকাল, বিকাল, সন্ধ্যা, ঋতু, মাস এবং বছরের পূর্বে In বসে।

Example: in the morning,  in the afternoon,  in the evening, in the summer, in the rainy season, in July, in 2019

2. ON/OVER/ABOVE

i) On (উপরে): তল স্পর্শ করে থাকলে on।
example: The ball is on my head.

ii) Over ( উপরে) : তলের উপরে থাকলে Over।
example: The shade ( ছায়া) is over my head.

iii) Above ( উপরে) : আরো উপরে বোঝাতে৷ above বসে।

example: The sky is above us.

3. In/ Into

কোন কিছুর ভিতরে অবস্থিত বোঝালে in এবং ভিতরে প্রবেশ বা পরিবর্তন বুঝালে into.

example:  i) The students are in the class room.( ভিতরে অবস্থিত)
ii) He went into the room.( ভিতরে প্রবেশ)
iii) Water changes into vapour.(পরিবর্তন)

4. By/With

যে করে তার পূর্বে by যে যন্ত্র দ্বারা করে তার পূর্বে with বসে।
 example: The dog was bitten by the boy with a stick.

5. Between/Among

দুজন ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে বুঝালে between and দুয়ের অধিক বুঝালে among বসে।

a) Devide The bananas between the two boys.

b)  Devide the bananas among the boys.

c) Devide the fruits among beggars.

6. On/In

দিন বা তারিখের পূর্বে on এবং মাস বা বছরের পূর্বে in বসে।

a)  I went to Dhaka on Sunday in December. 

b) He joind the job on Saturday in January 2019.

7. In/To/On

সীমার মধ্যে বুঝাতে in, সীমার বাহিরে বুঝাতে to, সীমার মধ্যে উপরিভাগে বুঝাতে on


example:
a) Barishal is in the south of Banglades.

b)  Bhutan is to the north of Bangladesh.

c) Barishal stands on the kirtonkhola river.

8. Below/ Under

তল স্পর্শ করে থাকলে below, তল স্পর্শ না করলে under .

a) Keep the bag below the box.

b) Keep the basket  under the table.

9. Since/ For

since+ নির্দিষ্ট সময়

for + অনির্দিষ্ট সময়  

যেমন, ডিসেম্বর থেকে পরিক্ষা চলছে বললে সময়টা নির্দিষ্ট হয়ে যা।এক্ষেত্রে since.
আবার, এক মাস ধরে পরিক্ষা চলছে বললে কিন্তু  সময়টা আর নির্দিষ্ট থাকে না। তখন for বসে।

   
a) Our examanation has been running since December

b) Our examanation has been running for a month.

   10. Since/ For

Future+ in

Past+after

ভবিষ্যৎ কালের ব্যাপক সময়ের পূর্বে in ও অতীত কালের ব্যাপক সময়ের পূর্বে after বসবে।

example :
a)  I shall come back in a week/ month/year.

b)  I come back after a week/month/year.
